There are a lot of cultural curses flying around at the moment. Most of the countries at it. It’s adding to the pressure most of us are feeling - the indecision and the worry.

In Shamanism, cursing is quite practical. The type I’m talking about here is a curse of projection, which social media is rife with.

After I got the vaccine, I felt great. After a few days, my DM’s and comments went wild. People telling me I was going to die. Sending me articles on side effects telling me I was going to have them. Saying I had lost my spirit to fear. Saying I work with evil spirits. Three days later I ended up in A&E with chest pain. The doctors checked me over, I was all good. In fact they said I was better than good. I went back 3 times that week with the same pains, and called the paramedics to my house after that. I had 4 ECG’s and a blood test. Not once was anything physically wrong with me.

I asked a Mexican shaman I know to check me over. He told me it wasn’t the vaccine, it was how I received the vaccine and how it was delivered. I truly believe that the pain started when the fear did.

I’m pretty thick skinned. But the combination of knowing I was taking some sort of risk with the jab, and the barrage of misinformation, made it feel like the world was closing in around me. It’s a very valuable lesson for me to guard myself from other peoples projections. The best way to do this, I feel, is to give people back their curse. I took too many of these opinions on my own shoulders trying to be “spirituality politically correct”, and it ended up harming me.

Saying “I understand your opinion.” “Noted.” “I’ll check that out thanks!” All the while inviting the possibility of harm into myself. Too much openness can lead to weak boundaries which can lead to losing part of who you are.

Of course there is a balance, but pick somebody you trust and go with it. And if someone gets the vaccine, even if you don’t agree with it, the best thing to do is support them. What’s done is done.

Side effects are real, but very rare.

Curses are real too, and they end up hurting everyone eventually.

Always a privilege to jump in here after healings and sweat out any spookylookies I may have picked up along the way.

I feel like it’s nigh on impossible to stay clean if you’re doing healing work. There’s always some transference, and that builds up over time. Getting a sweat on with intention can be a great way to get back into your body.

I went through a phase where after a healing I had to eat an entire packet of biscuits before I felt normal again. Much more fun then a sauna but sadly not as sustainable. It wasn’t because I was greedy, it was because I was eating on behalf of hungry spirits - sacrifice and service make a good healer.

Anyway, seriously the sauna - the last 10 mins is disgustingly hard 😂 I try to do breathwork but just end up sounding like a slowly dying pig.

Can’t have a drink cos it lowers our vibration. Can’t make rude jokes cos it means we’re immature. Can’t slouch cos it means we’re not barefoot marathon runners. Can’t wear anything but hemp cos it means we don’t care about the planet. Definitely can’t watch any porn - forget about that unless you want to live in your root chakra forever bro. Can’t even jizz anymore. We gotta let everything slide because aggressive reactions are for low spiritual vibrationary losers. Gotta be nice all the time. Can’t make mistakes. Can’t have a past. Can’t throw cardboard in the wrong bin. Can’t be capable of harm, but also be a martial arts expert. Be vegan, be keto, be carnivore, BE SOMETHING!

But not yourself, that’s too loud and brash. We’re trying to build a community here.

One day I’ll crack it. Ponytail, Native American tattoo, six pac, a peaceful mind, green juice flowing through my veins, walk on my hands as I drop my children Obsidian Rose and Blue Jasper off to their steiner school. Run 50 miles home, only stopping to forage. Know all the spanish medicine songs. Become a tantra expert. Learn flute.

When spirituality is bound too tightly with morali

When spirituality is bound too tightly with morality it becomes purely a self help tool. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but if the two are inseparable then we lose the real raw potential of spirituality which is actually intrinsically connected to the power of nature - which has no morality.

Nature is neither good nor bad, which is where the real power of existence is able to thrive. Spirituality will always have a moral element to it because it is a key part of community, which without an agreed upon set of rules would fall apart. But beyond community - and when working with spirit - our human ideal of morality, which varies from culture to culture anyway, has to at some point dissolve into something more real - even for a moment.

It’s that moment, beyond what you deem good or bad, or fair or unfair, that contains the spark that re-dreams life. It’s that moment that allows us a chance to get underneath the trauma of living and gives us a chance to touch something incredibly pure and life giving. It doesn’t usually feel very good. A true meeting with spirit in my experience is nothing fun or fluffy. It’s deeply frightening, alien and disconcerting, and usually shocks you to your core and feels more like disembowelment then a pat on the back.

Let’s be honest, the vast majority of these fluffy new age “downloads” are nothing but human thoughts dressed up as angels, posted on Instagram and packaged as the latest course or workshop to sap more money from you and give more false credibility to those who pedal them. It might be a nice experience, but that’s usually because spirit isn’t involved. It’s just human to human transmission - and there is nothing wrong with that - I’ve had lots of healing that way and I’m sure I’m not alone.

But spirituality, and shamanism especially, exists OUTSIDE of culture. It’s the hut between the village and the forest where you go to view yourself without a mask for the first time in all your grotesque glory.

I like this picture because when someone has a true meeting with spirit, and they suddenly realise this isn’t a game and try to back track and go back to their old life - this is how I feel 😂

We’re in a strange and wonderful position now in the West where we are planting seeds for an authentic Shamanic culture that will hopefully begin to bear fruit in the coming generations.

It’s a time of play and experimentation, where we can be much looser with the way we do things as we try to tune our ears to listen to the land and the spirits to find “our way”.

Big respect, honouring, offerings and patience is key!

Other more established cultures have many rules that they’ve developed over generations of practice. But those rules have power because they have sprung up from within that culture - taking them and applying them here, outside of the context of the society they are born from, doesn’t always work.

It’s why most people who study with other cultures who bring that work here without having fully integrated themselves into the culture that they learnt from first always seem a little hollow and like they’re mimicking something they don’t really understand. Still, it’s better then nothing.

Because of lack of regulation here, something I do feel we need to get away from is intuitive healing, where people open others up to spirit without any long term training from a human teacher. We’ve gotta cut the crap and go “back to school” and put in the hours with a HUMAN teacher who has at least one foot firmly planted in our culture. ALL indigenous shamanic cultures do this. It seems bizarre that someone from the West, who’s not from a shamanic culture, can just pick up stuff along the way from spirit and start practicing when an indigenous person will train for 5/10/15/20 years. You can have a talent for healing, but training beats talent without training every day hands down.

It’s not like learning an instrument or teaching yourself a new skill. It’s more akin to become a surgeon through trial and error - you’re gonna sew people up the wrong way and they’re gonna end up worse off then before.

Soul Retrieval, Ancestral Healing - these things change the fabric of existence. They literally alter history - don’t play the game with someone you don’t fully trust.

Amongst the play and experimentation - we’ve gotta start taking these things seriously.
